As part of the Te Maeva Nui NZ Cultural Festival, each participating team spends months preparing for the celebration. With many groups made up of more than 100 members and some approaching 200, bringing a cultural production to life requires an incredible commitment from performers, families, volunteers, and community leaders.
Throughout the festival journey, teams host community fundraising functions that bring people together through shared meals, entertainment, music, and cultural experiences. These events are about more than preparation — they strengthen relationships, celebrate community spirit, and reflect the Cook Islands value of supporting one another.
The Te Maeva Nui O Aotearoa NZ Charitable Trust proudly stands alongside each team by providing guidance, resources, and opportunities that help them on their festival journey. We are committed to creating an environment where every group can thrive while preserving and celebrating our Cook Islands culture.
Our Cook Islands community has always been built on the values of aro’a (love), tauturu (support), and Ta’okota’i’anga (unity). Every fundraising function is a reflection of these values, as families, friends, businesses, and supporters come together to uplift one another and ensure our culture continues to flourish for future generations.
